Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are all Hispanic. Most of them do not have a computer or other technology at home. They are exposed to violence and socioeconomic limitations, like lack of food or resources, others take for granted. Our school provides a safe environment away from gangs and other socioeconomic limitations.
In my classroom, my students get to dream with the sky as the limit.
They've planned future traveling plans, designed their dream homes, and have celebrated community heroes. The classroom is a safe haven where dreaming big is encouraged. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and share their future plans. They will thrive as enthusiastic learners when they are provided with memories that will last a lifetime. They will experience and recollect their memories in a whole new way.
My Project
Do you remember your first chore and allowance? If you do, you must have a solid concept of finances and economics. For my students, learning about money is the hardest concept in 2nd grade. Hands-on activities and games seem to help build a good concept about money, and how to save or spend wisely. The applications that my students will be able to access on this desktop computer will help them a better sense of how manage and save their allowances.
Learning about how to invest, acquire, and finance money, in any grade level, has proven to be one of the most challenging skills learned.
My students will be able to make change with play money with the help of the games accessible in the requested computer. My students will use the Apple iMac computer to access many Apple applications. They will practice paying exact change, and making change with virtual coins. They will access apps like Count Money, Freefall Money, Make Change, Coin Math, Koala Math Money, Splash Math, Jungle Coins, and My First Money. There are more than 200 other apps that can help my students learn to interact and manipulate US currency. Technology is interactive and engaging, and I want all my students to leave the classroom knowing how to save, invest, and acquire monetary skills at an early age. They will learn about production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services, so that one day, they can become entrepreneurs, financial advisers, and savvy consumers.
I need your generosity, to help me teach economics, in my classroom.
