Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an eager group of incredible individuals. Learning is exciting and thought provoking. I want to add a "financial" component to their lifelong learning. Financial literacy will help them prepare for a successful future.

Many of my students live in government funded housing and face several challenging situations.

They attend a Title I School in Southern California. They all qualify for the free lunch program. All of my students are English Learners and need many support systems. Regardless of their individual circumstances and difficulties, they want to learn and apply what they've learned.

My Project

My students need a Samsung tablet, a router for wireless Internet access and a Sony camera with memory card to learn how money affects all of our lives. These resources will help us explore, learn, and understand how important it is to save and how it affects the way we live. Documenting our learnings with pictures will add to the impact of our findings. We can add books on financial literacy to our tablet and we can search the web on how to be responsible investors. These resources will last for years to come.

The teaching of financial literacy to students is critical and creating the possibility of being responsible with our money begins with us: the adults who teach.

Learning how to save, what to do with savings and how to invest is the goal of this project. The opportunity to add to our classroom resources is priceless. The donations made towards this project will enable our students to prepare for a successful financial future.
