This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have an amazing group of students ranging from kindergarten to third grade. Some of them spend most of their school day with me, while others are able to be part of a general education classroom. While they all have diverse learning needs, one thing that they all have in common is a desire to learn and to take that learning and develop it into something that can help the school community as a whole. Even on my worst days my students are able to bring a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. Their level of determination and commitment to excellence is not only inspiring, but humbling. My students don't have much materialistically, but their presence will be felt for years to come.
My Project
My students learn at a different pace than their same aged-peers, but their passion for learning is unmatched. They have a can-do attitude regardless of the obstacles they need to overcome on a daily basis and the financial literacy supplies requested here will help them to reach their goals of being financially literate members of society.
Educating our youth is a team effort.
By using the Parent Involvement Math Kit that specifically targets ways to bring teachers, parents, and students together towards a common goal of reaching financial literacy, the team approach can be successful. Using this; along with data-backed, research driven, strategies; I will be able to insure that education does not stop the moment they walk out of the classroom door.
It is also important to make learning fun! By using materials such as the QUIZMO® Grade Level Game Series - Elementary, Grades K-4 and Math Games for grades K - 3 I will be able to keep the students' attention and assist them in retaining the information because they are having fun while learning.
