This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the wonderful opportunity to teach at a public Title I school that is classified as a CEP (community eligibility provision) school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. My 20 amazing students come from a diverse background of military and non-military families who truly want the best for their children.
I have an active, inquisitive, and vibrant group of kindergartners.
My students love moving, jumping and learning in a format that engages all of their senses. I have a few students who have ADHD, and it helps them greatly when my centers allow them to move, engage, and manipulate to release some of their energy during learning.
Our classroom is filled with a variety of learning experiences that include STEM, technology-based learning, and small group as well as individualized instruction. As their teacher, I strive to create a classroom environment that is organized, warm, and inviting so my students can learn, work, and grow together each day!
My Project
My students do not understand the value of a dollar. These counting, addition and subtraction activities will help my students learn the basic principles needed in order to count, save and earn money.
In the real world my students will need to be able to correctly count, add and subtract in order to save money or spend money with purchases.
These math games will give my students the practice and support they need with learning numbers and being able to match the correct number of objects to each numeral. These are skills that are needed prior to diving deep into financial literacy.
Lastly, as students earn money they need to be able to correctly add and subtract when they spend money. These skills will help support my students with making the connection with financial literacy.
Thank you for supporting my students on the journey of Financial Literacy.
