This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students are looking for your support. These are hard working young boys and girls who come out each and every week to participate in our Running Club. These students work to promote physical fitness within their lives. Each week from October to March my students come out and are physically active, which in today's world is extremely important. So many elementary students currently come home from school each day and sit in front of a TV or computer screen. These students are choosing to get up and stay moving instead.
These students come from a Title 1 school where most students currently qualify and receive free breakfast and lunch.
The population of my school is racially diverse and economically disadvantaged. By giving them an outlet to interact with each other in a social and physical in a positive way, we are helping them to grow into productive and healthy members of society.
My Project
These running shoes are hand picked for each of my 21 Running Club students. Each child will be given the gift of a new pair of running shoes personally selected for them. These shoes will allow them to continue to be active and live a healthy lifestyle.
Throughout their lives it will be increasingly more important that they are given changes to live healthy and be active.
What better way to help motivate them to live this way than with a new pair of shoes. When a child has a physical outlet they are often shown to be more productive in the classroom and at home.
