Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an amazing group of Second Language Learners, 2nd and 3rd graders, that are very excited about learning and developing their language skills in English.
Since the beginning of the school year, we are working together on building a community of caring citizens.
Through Character Education and strategies from Responsive Classroom, we are creating a nurturing environment, where all members of our classroom feel safe to take risks and comfortable to learn from their mistakes. We are ready to continue our journey.
My Project
One of our goals this year has been to find ways to take care of our environment. Many activities that we have done in the classroom are centered around recycling and reusing non-biodegradable materials to protect the environment.
We have made a commitment to use less non-biodegradable products to create an awareness of becoming more environmental friendly.
This is the reason why we decided to stop using water bottles in the classroom. I have ordered ZeroWater water filtration systems to use in the classroom. We will be able to drink the tap water from our school with these filtration systems. The students will be able to measure the pH level of the water with the digital pH meter.
