This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

“The history of food is as old as the history of humanity. Essential to our survival, food not only keeps us moving, but it can also unite friends and families, trigger revolutions, transport cultures, and transform the way we live.” - Yosola Olorunshola

Using tripods, students will make short professional-level documentary-style films.

Along the way, students will learn storytelling and research. Studying food allows students to explore cultures and identities too often ignored in history books. Usually, when people of color's history is told, it's focused on the atrocities committed against them.

Although these historical moments are necessary to students, there is a lack of asset-based history about communities of color. With our films, our students will change that.

Please help our students get the tri-pods they need to make professional-level films.
