Our world is highly influenced by digital creativity, and our classes promote skill development in the creation and literacy in the understanding of such creations. My school has a wonderfully diverse group of students from all types of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds (our district has 40% Hispanic population with many receiving free or reduced-price lunch). Our middle school students are brought up in a multimedia world of YouTube, smartphones, apps, social media, game, etc. Students and society communicate constantly via devices. My social studies, GMSTV and GMSTV Broadcasting classes create multimedia projects seen by peers and the community. Students are motivated to create and show their work. Students’ creations bring a strong student voice and a positive sense of community to our campus.
My Project
My GMSTV students and GMSTV Live! Broadcasting (AM) students film many projects on a regular basis and also create portfolios of their film projects and photographs. Having these SD cards is essential for the program especially since we have roughly 80+ students in the various GMSTV programs. In addition, every student is impacted by this program because we broadcast the announcements live every morning and take photos of our students on a regular basis. We also cover events at some of our local elementary schools. These SD cards will get used on a daily basis in the program. Thank you all.
