Ms. Cannon from Arlington TX is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students writing boards, to work out their math problems more effectively. This will help close the learning gaps students have accrued over the course of the pandemic.

I am first year teacher at a Title I school. My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love learning through technology. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
We are currently using individual whiteboards in the classroom that were greatly donated last year. However, whiteboards also require whiteboard markers, I have lost count on how many whiteboards markers, I’ve had to buy for my students because the school doesn’t have enough to go around or parents can’t afford to buy them at my school. Students love these hands-on learning materials because they can easily write and erase their work as needed.
Writing tablets will meet this need without the on-going cost of continued replacement of markers(this is very expensive to keep replacing every few weeks or every month).
The boogie boards that I am requesting have a fitted slot where the pens can be returned at the end of use. The pens will not dry out like regular white board markers. This means no more hunting down available markers and wasting precious learning time! The writing boards will also be used as a learning concepts gauge to determine how well students are grasping new material, and will also be used for quick answer prompts during class.
The variety of learning tools requested will lead to a better understanding of new math concepts while also filling gaps students have missed during the pandemic. I teach two 4th grade math and science classes, each class has 18-20 students. My students have a wide variety of learning needs. I am striving to meet them where they are and help guide them toward successful grade level understandings.
