Filling Hearts with Love

My Students

I'm an inclusion teacher at a Title I school in Hawaii. There might be negative stereotypes about the people on the Leeward coast of Oahu, but they are only stereotypes. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, from single-parent households and families with two working parents with multiple jobs, to families with comfortable living situations. With their diverse backgrounds, they all have a few things in common.

My students are enthusiastic, caring individuals who love learning and hands-on activities.

I teach an amazing class of eight and nine-year-olds. Regardless of what life throws at them, they always show up to school ready to learn, do their best work, and cheer each other on. They help nurture each other's growth in and out of the classroom. They are determined to make each day better than yesterday, and I am lucky to call them my students.

My Project

Although many of my students returned to school this year after being out of the classroom for 18 months or more, I still have high expectations for all of my students. They do their very best to be present and attentive each and every day not matter what is happening in and out of the classroom. Like many other states, Hawaii is pushing forward and expecting students to bounce back immediately and produce high test scores regardless of the lack of in person instruction the past two years.

These items will be used to make learning more fun by having a Valentine's themed day.

I will give my students the stationary sets as they enter the classroom to use during the day to write and decorate their work. They'll even get to create cards for friends and family using the stickers. The snake cubes will be used for a STEM challenge to create a variety of shapes. My students will choose to color their coloring book or make their diamond dot sticker during our mindful minute time, and take the other home as a gift. My students will end the day with a chocolate heart box to celebrate their learning and hard work. Thank you for helping me show my appreciation for my students and making learning fun!
