My students are at a dual-language Mandarin and English school located in a high-poverty area. Most of them are Mandarin speakers and are first-generation Americans. They are bright, hard-working, motivated, and are on different levels of ELA when they come to my classroom.
Curious, enthusiastic, and creative - my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
They are fearless when it comes to learning and are gleeful with their accomplishments. They both support and challenge each other every day but come to school ready to learn.
My Project
These books will enhance my print-rich classroom that I strive to create. The classroom library is a place that many of my students enjoy, when they have completed their work, they will choose a book from there. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have known some of my students for over a year and I know these are book they will enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.They will also choose books that interest them and will help them be strong readers.
My students have shown enormous interest in independent reading and this will help enrich their experience with printed words.
