My Students

Currently, I am teaching a self-contained kindergarten and first grade classroom. I will have all students with special needs and varying levels of ability. I also closely work with the first and second grade self-contained classrooms. Our students come from a low income community and typically struggle to provide different kinds of enrichment programs for our students.

Each of these students has their own unique needs and ways of learning, but they have one thing in common: the need to be successful.

With this being said, my students need opportunities to accommodate their needs in the special education and regular education classrooms.

These materials will give them the chance to be successful by giving my students a variety of books that support our curriculum and engage students during instruction. I want students to build a love for reading that they so desperately need. By being able to purchase books at individual levels and of interest to my students, I will be able to watch them grow as readers!

My Project

Books are able to engage students in experiences they may not always have a chance to have. Books open a new world to students, and, in my school, students do not always have the opportunity to access books. We are a low income school district, and our families do not always have the means to purchase books.

By providing a variety of books at each students' level, I will be able to open up a world of possibilities for them and build a love for reading.

My students need Scholastic Birthday Coupons to pick their own books and to spread the love of reading into their homes.
