This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are curious and adventurous. We are a Title I school with 90% receiving free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. My students come from families that do not have outside school experiences to build prior knowledge.
I like to give my students hands-on experiences to help them build knowledge, community, collaboration, and self-confidence.
This is a school that works and supports each other.
My Project
COVID-19 has changed the way we do everything! In years past, we’ve always had a special class for recess. During that class, the children would have time for free play. They would freely run and play on the playground equipment. This year though, we’ve got to do something structured and where social distancing can take place.
Help me inspire GIRLS to start RUNNING.
I want to divide my class into teams — running teams. This will allow us to still get our time outdoors. It will give us the opportunity to participate in team activities and in some healthy competition. Running is good for the students’ health and will also help increase attention and focus once we return back to class. Not to mention, this will be so much fun, and that is what we all need right now!
