This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an elementary school librarian, I have watched the excitement on the faces of students as they are exposed to the world of books. There are so many to choose from when they come into the library!

I love to see students become excited and engaged when they find a series that they love, they want to read the next book and the next.

Once they have found a book that is interesting to them, our students become voracious and vivacious readers. As they move along from grade to grade, they become eager readers and learners. I want to continue to feed this love for reading by keeping our well loved series current and up to date. There are books that they can’t get enough of and I want to make sure they have access to them to encourage them to continue to read and to learn.

Completing books in series sets will help students continue to be engaged in reading for enjoyment. When they can find a series that they love it is a bonus because students will want to read the next book and the next. They can’t get enough of a good book that they love. Over the years some books in our series have become lost or damaged. We need to replace these to keep kids engaged in reading. New books in the series have come out and of course the kids are begging to devour them. We want to help keep all the kids at our school excited about reading with current and up to date series sets.
