My students are members of a rural community on an indian reservation in Montana. The majority of the students in our school district are impacted by poverty and a variety of other traumatic challenges. My students overcome these obstacles every day and come to school excited to learn.
For many of our students, school is their only safe place where they have the freedom to grow and learn, as children their age should!
I have the wonderful pleasure of being a teacher for the strong and amazing 9 and 10 year old students in my class. They are creative, inquisitive, and kind. Your donation will help provide each of my students with the opportunity to be successful in school and in life.
My Project
Research has shown that learning only happens when students' basic needs are met first. One of those basic needs is hunger. Because of the homes that my students come from, they often come to school hungry.
This project will provide snacks for our classroom so that my students have access to food when they experience hunger throughout the school day.
A small snack during the day is often times just what my students need to stay focused and engaged in their learning. At 9 and 10 years old, their bodies are growing and changing and a snack allows them to be successful learners.
