This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember having to read books that were too hard to understand? Some of my students have had this problem. We only have a small amount of leveled readers and after they read it a couple of times, they would like to read something different.

My students all come from a Spanish-speaking environment.

They are all on free lunch and come from a low-socioeconomic background. They are so energetic about learning and wanting to learn more and more. But to do this, they need materials that they can read and comprehend.

My Project

My students will be able to read a book and know that after they are done, there will be a new book waiting for them. They will not have to get a book that has difficult words that they cannot understand. This will make them feel successful and challenge them to look for higher leveled books at their pace.

My students will be so happy to see their library grow.

This will make them interested in practicing reading so that they can get higher leveled books. Starting out with books on their level will give them the confidence they need to attempt other books that they otherwise would not be reading.
