Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help us give students access to culturally diverse titles.
I am a media specialist for Hubbard Middle School in Plainfield, NJ.
My goal is to have culturally diverse titles available to students to check out of the library or to keep.
For many of our students, their access to book especially newer titles is limited. By donating, you will be helping to put books in the hands of students who need them.
Our goal is to help build a community of readers who understand that their voice is important and can find that connect through the characters they read about.
My Project
This project is to provide titles to students who wish to join our book club but may not be able to afford a book or do not have access to get the title.
When students have access to books with characters and situations that are similar to their own lives they are more likely to read.
Using these titles as a way to motivate and encourage the reluctant readers we hope to build a culture of reading for pleasure in our school building.
Through these texts, we will be able to spark conversations and discussion with our students on real-world issues and help them become more globally aware students.
