Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with students who have various learning disabilities, including dyslexia which make accessing the grade level material very difficult. Students often get frustrated and give up or solely depend on others with tasks that should be independent.

I aim to provide my students with the tools that they need to be successful.

By using the "reading pens" that provide text to speech this makes independent reading much more enjoyable to my struggling readers. They have confidence to understand words that they can't decode or understand without the feeling ashamed or defeated.

They also benefit from having material printed in color so that certain skills can be color coded or highlighted in order to help organize their ideas in writing. We are grateful for the color printer that was funded but are in need of color ink cartridge replacement to help us continue publishing and building our literacy toolbox to create successful, confident readers and authors.
