Help me give my students a filling station that will keep them hydrated and focused. This filling station will be an excellent resource to help grow our students to their full potential.
Our students at MES are special. However, they do face many challenges living in a low income area. Yet these kids come to school each day eager to learn. Their excitement fills our heart. Our goal is to make sure our students are loved and cared for when they come to school. We do the best we can to make sure they have the learning environment they deserve. Their enthusiasm and imagination are what inspire us each and every day.
One of the challenges we do face at school is adequate hydration.
Often times, the students need more water intake in between meals. A student may not always be able bring a snack/drink from home for snack times. Its crucial that we be able to make sure that no student goes thirsty throughout the day. With the Covid-19 pandemic, most students have their own personal water bottle. We were able to provide the water bottles through donation or our own personal resources. A filling station would be an incredible resource to keep our students hydrated and to boost concentration.
My Project
Adequate water intake can improve the student’s brain function and critical thinking skills by 15%. Our school has one filling station in the main building, and the majority of our students at MES have a personal water bottle. Just as you reap the benefits of a well-watered garden, the students at MES would reap the benefits from adding a water bottle filling station. Not only does this promote the health of our students, but also helps to take care of the Earth by reducing the amount of plastic bottles thrown away daily.
Adding a filling station would provide a clean water solution for our class rooms that currently branch off from the main building.
While the 2nd grade rooms each have a sink, they are often used after projects and restroom use, it is not ideal for drinking water. Our purpose is to grow our students so they are able to reach their full potential. At our elementary we want to give the students the learning environment they deserve. I believe adding another filling station would help obtain that goal. It takes a village to raise our kids. Let’s water them and see how much they grow.
