My students need a variety of snacks to help keep them focused and working hard throughout each day!

I am in love with teaching in the same district that inspired me to become a teacher. My small school serves a diverse community with 44% of our school population coming from low-income families.
My scholars are BRILLIANT!
As a first-year-teacher who expected to teach middle school, first grade is truly magical. Each day, my scholars blow me away with their ideas, focus, and dedication to learning! Every one of my scholars has unique experiences and identities that I champion and celebrate in my teaching daily. Their interests keep learning fun and engaging.
We have a class full of artists, mathematicians, literary analysts, scientists, teachers, and comedians! Some of my scholars have experienced trauma, can speak more than one language, while some live in diverse families, and others identify with groups that have been historically marginalized. No matter how difficult life or school can get, my scholars are resilient, hard working, and inspiring!
Each morning my 18 scholars arrive eager to learn and excited for the day! In my classroom, it is our goal to spend each day working hard, learning all that we can, and being our best selves.
It is difficult for my scholars to stay engaged and to work hard when their tummies are empty!
I am requesting healthy snacks that will keep us focused on learning. I have come to DonorsChoose.org as snack for my 18 scholars is an out-of-pocket expense that I have incurred since the first week of school. It has been hard on my wallet as a first-year teacher! What is being requested will not get us through the end of the year, but it will keep our snack cupboard full for a couple weeks as it is often bare!
Most importantly, during the time at which snack is passed out, I am deep in teaching important literacy skills! What is most inconvenient currently, is that getting snack to my students is about a 10-minute ordeal (10 minutes is a LONG time to miss instruction). In order to disperse snack, I have to stop teaching to spend our precious time passing out individual napkins, measuring out individual shares equally among 18 students, and making sure there's enough hand sanitizer to go around (we go through this SO fast). Running around the room like this often distracts my scholars from important learning! The snacks and hand sanitizer I have requested fit our district guidelines for health and nutrition. Also, the snacks I have requested come in individual packs which will be a breeze and much faster to pass out! Not to mention, hand sanitizer will be in abundance!
