Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach for the school district of Philadelphia. Funding can be limited, and I would like to provide the best tools for instruction for my future students and learning readers!

I have a new third-grade class this year with very diverse learners and reading interests!

I have learned that even children who hate to read if they have books they are interested in, they will read for extended periods of time! It is all about knowing and learning your student's interests.

My Project

These books would make a world of a difference to my students! The selection varies from fiction to non-fiction, historical fiction, sports, women of the world, to graphic novels, to character development books, and more! It is so important to provide children with a variety of books to choose from because you will find even the kids who HATE to read end up LOVING it! Watching children fall in love with books is one of the best things in the world! Our classroom just got a new bookshelf, so we should #filleveryshelf and help the kids in our classroom read!
