This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We have empty book shelves in our library and there limited resources to purchase new books. We would like to fill all of our empty shelves with books!
Our school is a small elementary school located in an urban area in Washington State.
We are truly a multicultural school with over ninety percent of our students from minority populations. Most of our families are eligible for free or reduced lunch.
My Project
Our library is the heart of our school; literally and figuratively. It is located in the central atrium of our school. It is an open and inviting environment filled with books, which is a great place to learn or relax. However, we need more books to fill our empty shelves. These books will be shared by all of our students! They will provide our students with options and choices in their reading. Teachers will be able to read the books aloud to their students. I want these books to wear out from use!
Your donation will put books in the hands of children.
Many of these children have no books at homes. The only books available to them are found in our little library. You are providing children with the gift of knowledge.
