My Students

To describe my class in two to three paragraphs is a tough task. I have such an amazing and unique set of students. I love that all of my students have a different personality and they work together to complete a goal. All of my children are on free lunch because we are a Title 1 school and many come from broken homes, yet they are able to put their home life aside and come to school with a smile on their face every day!

Every day is a new day.

When I have students who I know have bad days, every morning I let them know that it is a new day to make new choices. I have one autistic child in my class among other students who know zero English and some that know very little, for these children to have the courage to come to school with smile and give it their all really makes my class special. Coming from a low income school district and not having all of the resources to help these children, they do an amazing job at adapting to their situation and overcoming obstacles.

My Project

The materials that I am asking for will make a difference in my students learning through their ability to sit and listen to a lesson while moving their body. Through these simple seating changes it will help these children feel less singled out because of their inability to sit still.

Through more core attention to instruction, more academic growth will take place.

A couple of my children are not able to speak English with the advanced technology that the Amazon Fire tablets have it will give me a way to communicate with these children and help them feel more safe and understood in the classroom. It will also give me a better picture of how I can help these children make academic growth. The wobble chairs, flex space wobble cushions, and space balance balls will be used to fit the movement needs of the children in my classroom. Kindergarten for some of these children is the first time they have been in school, and for them to sit and work on an activity or sit and listen is really hard for them, these flexible seating options will allow for a positive way to show justice to those students who need a little extra help. The research that has been done for flexible seating is amazing!Lastly, the sensory toys are for my autistic child, this child needs a constant fidget and right now i am not able to supply what he needs, with this kit it will allow him to let out his triggers in a positive productive manner.
