My Students

Our rural elementary school in upstate New York has a student population of 300 students. I work with students that need extra support in reading instruction.

My students come from diverse economic backgrounds, with a significant number of students who receive free or reduced-price lunches.

All of my students are eager to learn and love coming to school. The students are hard-working and compassionate. Our school is much more than a building where learning takes place. For many of our students, our school is where they feel safe, where they obtain nourishment, and where they are loved.

My Project

This year has been challenging due to COVID-19 but what matters is that learning is still occurring. The best way to ensure that instruction is the most beneficial and that students are not losing any instructional time is to stay organized.

I have requested two filing cabinets and file folders to help my students stay organized.

I have hundreds of phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension activities. If students aren't able to locate these activities, then there is no benefit to them. Instructional time will then be lost. However, having the file cabinets and file folders organized and ready to go with specific activities, students will be able to easily and quickly access the learning materials they need to continue to make progress. This will help them to become confident and independent learners.
