Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are special needs learners in a high needs area. Most of my students come from Spanish speaking homes and are struggling to learn literacy skills both in English and in Spanish. I have students in grades kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth and fifth, learning together in one ID classroom with very different needs and skills.
Each student in my class needs highly individualized education and care plans to be successful both in school and in life and depend on our classroom to deliver highly specialized content and life skills.
My Project
We are desperate for materials that can help them create and that can help keep them safe from germs! Cold and flu season is hitting us hard and we really could use some disinfectant (and lots of it) to help keep down the number of germs spread and, with it, the number of absences. It's extremely important for our students to be here every day.
We are also running low on many supplies we use in the classroom weekly to help students engage in math and literacy like markers, construction paper, glue, glitter, monkey sticks (for fine motor skills), expo markers and tape.
Educational games are a big hit in our classroom! We use them to help motivate students and keep them interested, especially since many of our learners have attention-based learning disabilities. We need games like IQ Fit, Play Doh Make and Measure and Pop For Addition!
Some of the other items included will work as master copies for students, like the workbooks, or as rewards and reinforcers like the spinners. Thank you so much for taking time to look at our project!
