This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My elementary public school has students in Three K through Fifth Grade. The population includes general education students, English Language Learners, and students with disabilities. My students are happy, creative, and inquisitive individuals. Many of them reside in shelters; however, they come to school with positive and ready-to-learn attitudes. They care about reading and writing. They like being exposed to exciting and meaningful fiction and nonfictional literature such as picture books, graphic novels, realistic novels, biographies, all about books, poetry, and magazines.

My Project

My fifth graders have read Make Your Own Money: How Kids Can Earn It, Save It, Spend It, and Dream Big, with Danny Dollar, the King of Cha-Ching written by Ty Allan Jackson. They loved the book. It would be awesome to have Ty Allan Jackson speak to my students about becoming a powerful navigator of financial literacy.

They will become financially literate and savvy.

Students will ask relevant questions. They will learn about what it takes to become an author. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
