Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in South Phoenix. My students are some of the sweetest kids I've ever met. They are kind to one another and are hungry to learn. We read a story last week that mentioned the Great Wall of China and it's been a research topic ever since! "Ms. Licurgo, how long is the Great Wall? How tall is it? Who built it?" They are creative and inquisitive and, while we've only been in school for about 2 weeks, I can see how invested they become with hands-on experiences.
I believe in choice in my classroom and the kids thrive in it.
Centers are completely choice-based, something many of my kiddos don't get in their lives. They don't ask for anything but I sure will!
My Project
My students have been without expo markers and glue sticks for some time now. These basic materials are necessary throughout our school day.
The easel will help maximize my instruction with young students as we spend a lot of our day on the carpet for instruction.
Right now I am using a kids easel from ikea so I am really excited to level up what I am able to do to teach these kids.
The CD player will read books on CD to my students. I have a few books from past orders that the kids are very excited to listen to. I am happy they will finally get the chance.
