Our students love learning and get excited about new projects that include hands-on experiences. Our Title 1 school has an eclectic group of students (68% free and reduced lunch) who are college bound and learning all they can to be successful in and out of the classroom.
We have an extremely supportive community that works hard to ensure our students are successful!
Our school has traditional tables and chairs in each of the classrooms. We are implementing technology utilizing computer carts that are shared between classes. Additionally, we've had access to community partnerships that have introduced various types of technology for our students to learn with.
My Project
I would love to have flexible seating and earbuds/headphones for ALL of my students. I currently have 11 "flexible seats" for my students and about 15 earbuds/headphones for the students to take turns with (two different classes, 55 students total). Flexible seating helps my active students to sit comfortably and focus on their classwork. Additionally, I would like a standing station for myself that I don't have to slouch at when I stand.
Our classroom could also use some new books that exhibit culture diversity and real-world issues.
We currently have a very outdated class library and need some newer, culturally relevant texts to read.
My students are worth every penny I spend on my classroom to keep it updated. Flexible seating, working headphones, and new books would really help my students to enjoy our learning environment.
