Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In elementary school my favorite day of the year was field day! I am hoping to create a day of Fun in the Sun for my students using the items I have requested in my project.
My students attend a new school (a few years old) in a district with not a lot of resources.
What I have discovered as a P.E. teacher at a fairly new school is that my storage closet is not very stocked. It takes years to build a good supply of P.E. equipment.
My Project
I am hoping to provide a fun and memorable Field Day for my students. I was sad to find out that the only parachute my school owned was too small for my students to safely use while in P.E. Our parachute has 6 handles and is 6 feet across. There is no way you can do a parachute activity safely with over 20 students per class. I am hoping to not only incorporate a new parachute into my P.E. classes but I also want to use it for our Field Day at the end of the school year. I also plan to use the beach pails, butcher paper, bean bags, and beach balls for different Field Day stations.
My project is important because every student in the entire school will benefit from these few items I have requested.
Pre-k through 5th grade will attend and participate in our field day at the end of the school year.
