HLA2 is proud of its inclusive and diverse community. We serve students from all backgrounds, including a high percentage of students with special needs and a growing number of students who are English language learners. HLA2 is a member of the Coalition of Diverse Charter Schools.
We are strong believers in personalized learning – ensuring that each and every child has the opportunity to grow academically and socially in ways that are tailored to their needs and learning styles.
Our personalized approach to learning is enhanced by our small student to teacher ratios – transforming the classroom experience into one of genuine community which in turn promotes positive emotional development in each child.
Think back on your Field Day events from your school days. What do you remember? Many of you will remember how much fun you had, the games you played, and spending time with your classmates. Field Day is a great chance for students to let loose, get active, and have a good time. And at the end of the day, it is all about creating a memorable experience. We are requesting Tug of War rope, bean bags, water balloons, flying disk, and soccer balls.
Field day is an opportunity for us to showcase the program and for students to showcase their skills.
Think of it as a cumulative exam. There is a general undertone that permeates some school cultures, which is that PE is just a planning period, or not that important due to academic needs. Field Day is a time for you to show the entire school and community that physical education holds value. It is a chance to let them see what physically-literate children look and sound like. With a great Field Day, you build a case to advocate for more time, money, and events for your program.
