I teach at a Title I school of choice that focuses on incorporating the arts and technology into our lessons. Our students come from many different economic backgrounds and over half of them receive free lunch.
All of my students are ready and eager to learn and explore new things each day!
Many students have a hard time focusing in class. My students need materials to help them get focused and ready to learn as well as to meet the sensory needs that they may have.
There has been a 48% increase in ADHD diagnoses in children in the last eight years. Students are typically diagnosed with ADHD when they are seven years old (or in first grade).
We are requesting bouncy bands, wobble seats and beanbag seats.
The materials I am requesting will help students with or without ADHD stay focused in class while meeting their sensory needs. This project is designed to find other ways to keep students focused rather than resorting to medication.
Students will use the wobble cushions and bouncy chair bands while they are seated in class to keep their feet busy, and their minds focused. The beanbag chairs will be used as a calming area for students who become overstimulated and need a break.
