I teach a creative group of students. They are inquisitive and like to question why. They are full of energy and give 100% to everything they do. In our classroom, I try to bring our curriculum to life with hands-on, innovative activities. I want my students to see the world around them and interact with the materials we are using.
My students enjoy putting their problem-solving skills to use and know that they can make a difference in the world with the choices they make.
I want them to know the sky is the limit and that they should reach for the stars.
My Project
I have the privilege of teaching students who are English language learners, have special education needs, and have ADD/ADHD, as well as general education students. My class is filled with happy students who are ready to learn; however, they would all really benefit by having "fidget" tools accessible in the classroom. These tools can be used by students with ADHD to refocus or by students who are upset to calm down. I am requesting a great selection of LEGOs to use in the classroom. LEGOs can be used in many ways. Students can use these to help them focus when they need to take a break just by running their fingers over the bumps on each brick. Students can use them to build on our classroom LEGO wall or at their seat. LEGOs can also be used them as math manipulatives by students who want a more hands on approach. I am also requesting a set of fidgets. These will be available for students who want to keep their hands active to help keep their minds engaged.
These sensory output tools will help my students refocus their energy and focus on their academics.
