Our school is a safe haven to many of our students. It is a place where they can escape the things that are going on at home and that are occurring in their lives. These students go through things that I couldn't even imagine going through as an adult, let alone as an elementary school student. They come to school every day with a smile on their face, eager to see their classmates and to see what we will be learning during the course of the day.
Seeing the students come to school each day, where they know that they can just be a kid and not have to deal with the stresses of their day to day life, really makes you feel, as an educator, that you are making a difference in their lives.
I frequently tell my students that in my classroom we are a family and we all need to help one another in order to be successful. These students are always the first to help anyone in need. These students are our future and I want them to grow up to be successful in everything they do in life, and to always help others whenever possible.
My Project
This balance ball will allow my students to fidget while learning. Many of the students in my classroom would benefit from this seating option. The students in my classroom are high energy and many of them have difficulty staying on task due to their pent up energy. This yoga ball would allow them to bounce and wiggle to release some of their energy which in turn will aid their focus in class. Half of my classroom has flexible seating with the other half having just regular chairs. This yoga ball seat will allow me to reach even more students with flexible seating options and will help to eliminate the need for regular chairs in my classroom.
