Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I love each and every scholar I have the joy of servicing. My school demographics are mostly composed of African Americans. My scholars come from low socio-economic backgrounds and challenging environments, which would seem to be a hindrance, however, it pushes them to excel even more. We each have our own bond that allows me to build a special relationship with each of them. My scholars struggle to manage their emotions but that does not stop them from wanting to learn and being excited about it. Each has their own learning style which makes them unique and allows me to creatively reach them.

I want to eliminate as many barriers as possible to establish meaningful and creative avenues to foster their learning journey.

My goal is to create lifelong learners and productive members of society.

My Project

Our students thrive when using our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS). The system allows scholars to earn small rewards along the way to accomplishing larger behavioral goals. PBIS uses a point system where my scholars are rewarded for positive behaviors and can use points to redeem various items. Purchasing these items will help keep our PBIS chest stocked for our students! The fidgets, pencils, and stamps are ultimately seen as Prizes because it is a positive reward they are selecting each Friday with their PBIS points and may be used in the classroom at any time!

With your help, I want to celebrate and recognize my students' positive behaviors so it can boost their confidence and makes them happy and healthy for learning.
