My students live in a suburban area of Richmond, VA and live active lives with high expectations at home. Our school has a new focus on innovative learning and wellness, and students are excited to have their brains stretched in new and challenging ways. They love to move around and be creative when learning!
In my class, students are challenged to determine their own personal learning styles, and my classroom is arranged to meet these identified needs for learning.
My goal is to have areas of flexible seating where students can have a choice in their learning environment, be comfortable, and be in a collaborative community while learning. Students' output is much more representative of their true abilities when choice, comfort, and collaboration meet!
My Project
These wobble stools, yoga balls, and standing desks will be ideal contributions to our learning environment! The wobble stools will allow those students who have an internal need for vestibular stimulation to constantly be on the move. The yoga balls will replace desks in my classroom and permit students to develop core muscles while fulfilling a need that children have to wiggle. The standing desks will give those students who work best while standing a location that meets their needs.
Flexible seating options in my classroom will enable each student to demonstrate learning in the environment that fits his personal learning style.
These stools, yoga balls, and standing desks will be the perfect fit for my students as we challenge ourselves to create a learning environment that students deserve!
