My students need materials to help them stay focused, like privacy partitions, stress balls and foot bands. We also need some school supplies like hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes after a long cold/flu season!
My students really love math--a rarity, I know! They like taking our topics and doing multi-day projects or presentations on them. My students come in to school with so much energy and love to engage in more activity-based learning.
They really love when math class involves games, crafts or any kind of project!
During these lessons, I get to know my students so much better and see their personalities come out in their work. So many of them are creative and hard working, and I love being able to bring that out.
My Project
My students are having a hard time sitting in desks for 40 minutes. I don't blame them! We have been doing a lot of activity based learning to help them get out of their seats during class, but they have a hard time focusing during parts of class when we need to be seated.
Allowing my students to engage their hands and feet in a non-distracting way will hopefully help them stay engaged and focused on math.
The foot bands and stress balls will allow them to release some energy in a positive way. The desk partitions will help those students block out the distractions that we can't avoid, like the door to the hallway and other students.
