Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! They have the desire to learn and drive to see things through. They are so smart and talented. They are able to multi-task and are eager for more. Because of their unique abilities, they also tend to fidget. Our curriculum is so compact and rigid. Often times, their inner desire to move is suppressed by strict schedules and timelines. Students are deemed behavioral issues, when really they just need a release! How wonderful would it be to have something to fidget with to help ease the excitement and nerves, right at their seats! I hope to be able to fulfill this desire for my kiddos this year.
My Project
I have a diverse group of learners- from Special Education and 504 students with anxiety and ADHD to Gifted Learners whose motor is constantly revving for more! I found that, they need to fidget and when given them something to release their energy, such as fidget devices, they are able to focus more! Students will have ease of access to these fidget devices, as needed! They can carry them with them throughout the day, or simply come get one as they need! I want students to feel safe and comfortable in my classroom. Instead of suppressing the need to release their energy, I want to support it. Stop depicting them as problems, and let's give them a solution! Support the fidget!!
