My mission is to provide a quality, rigorous education for my 6th-grade students. Many of my students have parents who are illiterate and are not able to support their child(ren) at home. As a school, we go above and beyond with support for our students and families. The students set personal goals and do whatever it takes to reach them. The staff at our school believes that “all” children can and will learn if provided the right environment and support. We expect nothing but the very best from each and every child, every single day, starting with day one. Furthermore, we believe that each student will reach his/her highest potential through an educational program guiding upon their learning styles, language development, life experiences, and cultural backgrounds.
My sixth grade is made up of 29 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My school serves students K-8 and provides rigorous academics, highly skilled teachers, and a safe learning environment. As a result, we have been identified as a "High-Quality Charter School" for two consecutive years!
My Project
This is my second year incorporating flexible seating in my classroom and I will never go back to traditional seating. I need to replace damaged fidget bands and add on to my already growing collection! They are a great resource for students to get the wiggles out to focus on assigned tasks.
Furthermore, I am working to expand my library to include more diverse books!
I want to make sure my library represents the students that use it every single day. It is important that our students see characters like them living life like any average teenager! I can't wait to get them inside these awesome books!
