Get a group of eight and nine year old learners together if you want to see a world filled with curious and wonderful things! Each day I work to build a classroom community where my students feel encouraged to ask questions and work together to explore possible answers. My students inspire me daily to be the best I can be.
Analyzing data is a key part of my job, but I believe the most important data collection comes in the ear-to-ear smiles and giggles as my students find joy in learning.
My Project
A growth mindset is the belief that people can become smarter and more skillful, intelligent, thoughtful, and just. These skills are not fixed . . . but can be grown!
I want to fill my classroom with children's books where characters make a journey toward self improvement by demonstrating characteristics of a growth mindset, such as perseverance, flexibility, and strategic thinking.
For example, books such as "After the Fall: How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again" by Dan Santat demonstrate the importance of coming back from adversity to persevere!
By reading about characters that show the positive nature of a growth mindset, I believe my students will be more likely to appreciate the power within themselves.
