This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Sing, Say, Dance, and Play! Every day an exciting adventure awaits my students when they enter my music classroom, a.k.a. Ms. K.'s House of Music. We sing, say, dance, and play to experience music at its fullest!
I teach music to 6th-8th grade students in a STEAM public school in Missouri.
My students range from middle class to poverty level, and some also experience violence in their neighborhoods on a daily basis. Sometimes music is the only solace to their day.
Despite their economic differences, all of my students are eager to express themselves through music. Every day they enter the music room with excitement and an eagerness to learn.

My choirs need bus transportation to attend their very first music festival!
We have been working very hard on our music and our sight singing, but I am finding that my students cannot afford to pay for the bus. I would hate to see them not get to experience this wonderful opportunity of singing in front of judges just because they come from low economic situations. We will be taking three buses to get to the festival, and we will stay for approximately three and a half hours, making our day a total of five hours for this incredible experience.
Music is such an important part of my choir students' lives. They love singing and performing! We appreciate any help you can give us to allow us to attend our very first festival!
