Help me give my students the products they need at school. Girls struggle with self-esteem and are constantly embarrassed to ask for feminine products so this would help them have safe and secure access to what they need!
My students are funny and selfless. They are always looking for fun and engaging ways to better learn and really want to be successful in life. I want school to be a safe and comforting place for all students to excel!
I want them to gain a better understanding of the world around them.
The school I work in is a Title I, low income, ELL school that provides opportunities for all types of learners.
My Project
Middle school is a very challenging time for students, especially girls. As they hit puberty there are so many changes in your body and they are often so embarrassed. Our goal is to take some of this stress away from them to make school more comfortable. This project would allow me to provide free feminine products in the bathrooms for girls. They would not have to ask an adult, they would not have to get stuck asking friends in an emergency, they would have a safe and anonymous place to go and get what they need.
I teach at a Title I school, which means over 60% of our students live in poverty and do not all have access to the products they need.
This means that there is not always money for feminine products. This project lets me supply them with things without the shame of asking.
