Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a very special school, it's home to a very diverse population of students, possibly the most diverse schools in our District. In addition to our diversity, we are a Title 1 school with a free/reduced-price lunch rate of 90%. Our students are vulnerable and in many cases could be considered part of an at-risk population. Many have been displaced from their homes due to Hurricane Harvey and the after-effects of the release of the Addicks Reservoir into the Buffalo Bayou.
Despite these adversities, we are committing ourselves to help all student-athletes become successful on the playing field as well as in the classroom.We have been fortunate to receive funding for several essential items needed to ensure that our athletic program continues to function post-Harvey, it's time to protect those items to ensure they last a very long time and impact many student-athletes.
My Project
I'm amazed at the strength of these young women athlete's! So many were effected personally through the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, but yet still thrive for success. This project is the push to provide these young women a new outlet, that will benefit them throughout life! These young women will constantly be put through battles in their thrive for excellence. I want to make this thrive, and this battle easier by developing confidence! The weight bars and exercise bands will help to transition the minds of these young women! Developing a confident mind through new outlets, like unique exercise curriculum, will pave a path for success!
