My students are sweet and kind. They work hard and strive to do their best. They are creative and open-minded. They are eager and energetic. They are smart and multicultural. They are filled with wonderful potential. Their eagerness and desire to learn is so exciting. Like little sponges, they sop up everything I have to offer them.
As a teacher, there is nothing better than teaching students who are hanging on to your every word.
My students thrive on positive, supportive learning environments. We work hard to create a community of learners where everyone feels welcomed and willing to take chances with their learning.
I work in a Title I, public school as an ELL teacher (Grades K-5). Nearly 80% of our students are receiving free or reduced price lunch and approximately 40% of the students in our school are classified as English Language Learners (ELLs).
My youngest bilingual students are working on developing their oral language skills. These felt storyboards will allow students to practice their oral language skills while also practicing their story comprehension.
Students will have the opportunity to listen to stories, look at the pictures, then use the felt storyboards to retell the stories that they have seen and heard.
This is something students can work on independently or in small groups. This is an activity my early readers can do as part of their independent reading time. With ten to twelve different story choices, students will have so many choices each and every day!
