Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school strives to find the leader in all students. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my class strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.
My class consists of 19 amazing students that are full of life.
My school is low-income title-1. Many of our students are being raised by family members or foster care. I want my classroom to feel like a place they can call home.
My Project
This is my first year in this classroom and grade. There are several items I believe will help my students succeed. I will use the Cricut to cut out with letters and numbers that will be personalized by students for manipulatives. The Laminator will allow me to make lasting math and reading centers. During the holidays my class will be able to use the Cricut for themed art projects like Santa counting cutouts so that they will know how much I appreciate them. The printer and ink will allow me to make copies for students. I will be able to print parent newsletters and student work in color. The printer will also be used to print necessary materials for centers. Work such as cut and paste work and interactive science projects being printed in color will attract student interest.
Letter manipulatives give children a way to interact with the alphabet through hands-on play.
Students will feel the different shapes of the letters and share with the class. Students will also arrange multiple letters to form letter strings or words.
I will also be able to cut out shapes and math center manipulatives. Students will use these manipulatives to practice one-to-one correspondence in counting. curves and the lines that come together to form each letter, and some letter manipulatives even allow children to explore letter formation and tracing.
