Feeling Groovy With Sensory Integration

My students need supports in the classroom such as a Yacker Tracker, bumpy pillow, lap pads, etc. for their sensory integration issues. Many of my students require extra supports to help them stay focused on learning.

My Students

Our school has the most curious and amazing students. Our first graders are are interested in learning about the world around them and exploring in the arts. We work hard every day to give them the opportunities that they deserve and need.

Our school is in the heart of Manhattan, and most of our students live in the neighborhood housing project.

Over 75% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our students are kind, loving, and look forward to learning every day.

My Project

My students require extra sensory supports to help them stay focused so they can learn. Some of my students require a quiet learning environment. The headphones and Yakker Tracker will help to create that. My students who struggle to sit still will benefit from the weighted lap pads and bumpy pillows. Fidgety hands will be calmed by the sensory toys and bands. Having these supports will help my students to be able to reach their full potential.

Students come to school with many different learning needs.

It is important that my co-teacher and I find as many resources as possible to help kids and to meet those needs.
