Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a special education, low-income class in New York City. My students are in fifth grade. They are a great group of dynamic learners and have various learning needs.
Organizational supplies and concrete materials will enhance students learning to specifically target learning goals and social skills.
My students benefit from repetitive and reusable work, hands-on materials, and organized tools to use within daily routines. My students are unique and continuously work on building their independence. This includes social emotional learning.
My Project
The floor tiles and sensory items such as the bean bags and long jump rug will help my students get out extra energy when they are excited, angry, or frustrated. The lap mat, stool, and other materials will help sooth them!
Together, these materials will give my students a healthy outlet for all of their emotions.
These will help them stay safe while feeling what they need to help them find a way to continue focusing on school, happiness, and growth. These materials will help students grow in their social emotional learning to be better school citizens and will lead them to higher academic success.
