My students are dreamers, believers, and leaders. They are kind, inquisitive, and hardworking. In my class, most students are English Language Learners, with 65% of the students at the school speaking a first language other than English. Because we are a full inclusion school, many of my students also have a variety of disabilities.
The school serves a high-poverty area in Boston, and the faculty and staff are committed to providing our students with the best education, for they deserve nothing less.
My students need deodorants and extra uniforms so that they can take care of themselves. Fifth grade is the beginning of puberty for many students so they are learning about the importance of hygiene and how to take care of their maturing bodies.
Every student deserves to have a clean body and clean clothes.
Some students do not have the resources to take care of their bodies so we want to provide them with deodorants and clean clothes. Giving extra uniforms to those students who could use them relieves parents and guardians of the finical stress these uniforms may cause and reduces instances of bullying for students.
