Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students consists of Kindergartners to second graders that require extra motivation in school. Most of my students have specific learning disabilities that range from reading to math difficulties. They are all charming and personable but are from a tough part of the city. Some of my students have been through different homes, live in poverty, and struggle financially.
The beginning of the school year is always an exciting time for everybody!
Unfortunately, the families of my students have a difficult time providing classroom supplies because of finances. However, this never stopped my students from working hard and achieving their goals! With a little help, I can provide them with equal opportunities to grow, to have fun, and have a comfortable learning environment.
My Project
I want to kick start the school year with the proper supplies and items for my students! Last year, I had provided them with all the supplies they needed, from notebooks, to pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, etc. Not a single student had to bring in their supplies! Unfortunately, I was not able to fund the supplies needed to make an organized classroom. This year, we can really use everyone's help! For example, the projector will make a huge difference in my room. Unfortunately, I do not have a smart board in my room. This year, I would love to provide my students with online activities and videos that will help keep them engaged and challenged. For example, my students need to move! The projector will give us the opportunity to dance and exercise by using Go Noodle during our brain breaks! I also wanted to provide flexible seating options for my students. Our classroom is small and space is very limited. The cushions will provide alternative seating for my students to use during classroom activities and independent work. My students will love sitting with their classmates and work collaboratively in a comfortable and fun seat!
