Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I provide counseling services to students in grades 9-12. The ACE student body is 92% low-income, 50% English learners, 93% first-generation college students, and 20% students with Special Needs. Our high school seeks to serve students who have been left behind by the traditional school system, by immersing them in a culture of optimism and celebrating growth and achievement one challenge at a time. ACE seeks to send all of its students to college by preparing them with the academic, mental and emotional skills they need to graduate from a 4-year institution.
My Project
In order for my students to be academically successful and mentally prepared for school they need to fuel their bodies. At times my students come to school hungry and they do not always ask for resources that they may need. In order for them to be successful in the classroom and get through the day, these snacks will help them be more focused in classes and more inclined to stay at school. It sometimes sucks asking for help, especially as a teen. By having the option to have a quick bite to eat these students will benefit greatly and appreciate anything they can get.
