This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I believe that every student can be genuinely engaged in their learning if it is going to be meaningful and long-lasting. This engagement can come in various forms, but one consistent way to make learning exciting and fulfillng for my Exceptional Children students, is to feed their minds.
My students have school pride that is CONTAGIOUS!
Approximately 600 children attend my school and identify mostly as Multiracial, Black, Non-Hispanic, and Asian. 100% of the students here receive free breakfast and lunch. We are also a Title I school with at least 75% (three quarters) of our school's students coming from low-income families. Our school is part of a huge military community. We have a well-maintained school with loving and caring administrators, as well as teachers and support staff who do everything within their power to see that the needs of the students are met. Here at our school, WE put our students first! My students work very hard and are excited about learning. Everyone is valued, and we do all we can to provide what each child needs.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my student's learning by boosting their energy and allowing them to become more focused and motivated with their learning. When my students have the opportunity to eat a snack while learning, it refuels their minds and allows them to perform better academically. When my students have healthy snacks going into their bodies, it helps keep them alert and also encourages them to concentrate on their work. By providing healthy snacks, my students will become more attentative to the lesson, be able to process the information more effectively, and have a positive growth mindset.
